Proposed US bill would expand Gateway Arch National Park into Illinois
Bipartisan Illinois-Missouri bill would extend Gateway Arch National Park to East St. Louis' riverfront, including Malcolm Martin Memorial Park.
“The Gateway Arch was always meant to be a monument for both sides of the river,” Rep. Wesley Bell (D-MO) said.
The bill would allow the National Park Service to incorporate parts of Malcolm Martin Park and nearby vacant parcels in East St. Louis into the park’s footprint.
