The first winter storm of 2026 in New Mexico is set to greatly change our weather with rain, snow and the coldest temperatures this season.
A winter weather advisory has been issued until Friday, Jan. 9 for parts of Southern New Mexico, including Cloudcroft, Ruidoso and Silver City.
Highs on Saturday are expected to climb into the upper 50s to around 60 degrees — about 15 degrees warmer than normal for early January.
The advisory had been issued for Northern Wayne and Southern Wayne as well as Pike County. "The advisory has been allowed to expire as the snow in the area will be tapering off by early afternoon," according to the National Weather Service.
On Tuesday at 12:55 p.m. an updated winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service valid from 4 p.m. until Wednesday 11 a.m. for Berkshire County.
