When asked "what noise does an owl make?" a very common answer is "twit twoo" 🦉 It is our native tawny owl that makes this well known call. However this noise is actually made by a female and a male calling to eachother, usually a breeding pair. The female makes a "ke-wick" sound and the male replies with "hoo-hoo-oo".
