"Dear Mayor..." What started out as a lesson in persuasive writing in Hope MacFarlane's English Learner class at Hartley Elementary School turned into a meeting between Hartley second grade students, Lincoln Parks & Recreation staff and Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird. The students had written to Mayor Gaylor Baird about improvements they'd like to see at nearby Hartley Park, and in turn, had the chance to plant a tree, tour the park and draw out what they think the future of Hartley Park could be. #
